As I age I am drawn to the written word. Television, movies – not my style. Not that I am a Luddite; I embrace the digital world with relish (sweet or hot?). But the written word captured me while studying journalism in college, and that relationship has only grown with time.
By “written word” I mean all of its forms, including poetry. Recently I have expanded my interest to include Haiku. I read it and write it. I recognize the difficulty in translating a Japanese form into English, but I try to keep as true to the concept as I can (5/7/5, 17 syllables, seasonal theme, emotional content).
